It is confusing but if there is no white stop line, you don't stop. Seen many licence holders make the same mistake so not exclusive to learners.

She didn’t learn why wasn’t the red light for her so you should’ve explained that if there is NO SOLID LINE in front of traffic light (unless temporary lights) than the light is not for you

Having lights like that is clearly confusing. In most European countries a red light in this location means stop.

Always remember if the traffic lights is on both side of the road and this is for you otherwise if is on one side that’s not for you

I think she did the right thing by stopping. its a crossing after the junction. I can see the yellow box to press and wait for green man.
