Actually, the first screenplay that Nick Cave wrote was Ghosts...Of the Civil Dead in 1988, which he also acted in and also directed by John Hilcoat but it's easy to miss that since it's quite obscure

Just watched this based on your recommendation, BLEAK is an understatement. Australia looks like absolute hell in it... great performances by all of the flies.
