@jemtalksautism: A first glance a child may be seen as naughty or difficult, but actually Neurodivergence is real. Understanding the needs of your child and responding effectively is so important for their development. #homeschooling #autismawareness #neurodivergent #adhd #jobs #work #technology #dadlife #mumlife #podcasts
neurotypical kids should be taught kindness and acceptance our kids shouldn't need special schools....

it's not homeschool that's necessary, it's better and more inclusive schools.

They don't know how to be with our autistic children, and that's because they don't go on courses to learn about it.

Roysinoz_Stories :
I have a level 3 autistic son with PDA and also a daughter who is PDA. I am homeschooling my son, but homeschooling is not the answer to handling a PDA child. Because when they transition into real world there will be demands from co workers, from clients etc and they are not going to reframe sentences to make our children feel less threatened. Unless the entire world is getting a lesson on how to talk to PDAers. Rather constantly talking to them to observe how their brains are creating the narrative about avoiding the demand and spiraling into a meltdown might help. Equipping them with strategies that would help them to manage their own brain from an early age would help. I am teaching my kids meditation and how they can become a constant observer of themselves. It’s not easy for them but consistency helps, they will eventually get there. One step at a time.

My eldest daughter (now 19) has demand avoidance. Not diagnosed. School ruined her mental health. I tried to get her help and now feel like I failed her.

The problem with autism it effects people in a multitude of ways. Some struggle more than others. Its impossible for a teacher to tailor make a class that is ideal for every pupil.

Teachers don't care and are not trained enough for most kids. All kids should be homeschooled I think unfortunately. Schools aren't what they should be or what we think they are.

My worry, as a Primary school teacher, is what will happen to these children in adulthood? Life is hard and I see lots of parents too quick to blame school and not take accountability.

I'm a TA in a primary school and my only problem with home schooling these kind of children is that they will always be used to only themselves. They should still have social interaction with others
