Tamari is just a kind of soy sauce and even though it does not have wheat traditionally that doesn't mean always. Kind of like Korean soup soy sauce, it usually doesn't have wheat but sometimes does.

I’ve lived in Japan for 14 years and can maybe give some insight. Tamari is a byproduct for miso making, and sometimes miso has barley added. Wheat may be added as a thickener.

Happens to the best of us- Labels are exhausting- my hubby came home with a non- gf version of something and when I pointed it out he replied with “Do you have any idea how long it would take me to read ALL the labels while I’m grocery shopping??!”… why yes sir, I DO in fact know 😉🤦🏻♀️

Most soy sauce is NOT gluten free either! It's so hard to find safe stuff and I'm just gluten intolerant not celiac.

sadly I have learned in my 10 years of having active Celiac Disease that there are more than 300 ingredients that contain wheat, that unless products have been made in a dedicated never used a gluten

My poor poor dad accidentally glutened my partner (the coeliac) for YEARS without realising… not all tamari is GF 😅 (we’re in Aus)

things can have no gluten containing ingredients and the very next bottle from the same store can contain gluten. I blame our government for not being stricter with their guidelines and enforcing them
