Don't remove the sticker first but soak the jar in a warm water with little bit of dishwashing soap it will remove the label completely and easily.

fyi a quicker way which usually leaves no residue is using a hair dryer to melt the glue and then peel off the sticker ✨ also acetone can remove any residue
