@chemelearninghub: 🛢️💧💨 How does a 3-Phase Separator work? When oil, gas, and water come out of the well together, they need to be separated—and that’s where the 3-phase separator comes in! In a 3-phase separator, the incoming well stream enters through an inlet diverter that reduces flow momentum and begins separating gas from liquids. The gas, being the lightest, rises to the top and passes through a mist extractor to remove any entrained liquid before exiting through the gas outlet. The remaining liquid—oil and water—undergoes gravity separation, with water settling at the bottom and oil forming a layer above it due to their density difference. Internal baffles and weirs help maintain distinct layers and control flow.
