@jonnycoshoe: Why are the comment sections on TikTok always so aggressive toward extension specialists? I genuinely don’t get it. In the extension world, we have a saying: “Hair extensions don’t cause damage—people do.” That “people” can be the client not properly maintaining their extensions at home or skipping maintenance appointments—or it can be the stylist not installing them with integrity. Installing with integrity means understanding that there is a right and wrong way to apply extensions for different hair types. Just because you can attach hair to someone’s head doesn’t mean it’s done correctly or safely. Now here’s the tricky part: As a client shopping for an extension specialist, how can you tell who’s installing with integrity and who’s not? It’s not always easy—but here’s how I try to build trust with my clients and potential clients: • I regularly share before-and-afters showing my clients’ natural hair growth with their extensions removed. • I break down my install methods step by step. • I post real grow-out photos—and even show the natural shedding that occurs. • I wear extensions myself, applied in the same method I use on my clients (shoutout to my wife for doing mine).
