@nixonanimation: One of the coolest things about compositing on large projects is that you get to see tons of beautiful animation come through the pipe. When I started on this ‘@Overwatch 2 x @LE SSERAFIM’ collaboration trailer at Titmouse not many shots had been tied down (let alone finished!) so I was working out the timing and composition using rough animations as they came in. As an animator, it’s always fascinating to observe the process from different artists in the early stages, especially when it’s at this calibre! All compositing was done in After Effects. You’ll notice that I’ve restricted the framerate of the backgrounds (and rotation/mirroring of the characters) to the framerate of the character animations themselves for visual cohesion. There’s a brilliant AE plugin on @aescripts called Smart Posterizer that can scan the framerate of a comp (useful when the framerate varies - often the case in character animation), and then apply it to other properties. Kudos to all the amazing animators and artists involved in this shot and the whole project.
