@raisedhunting: If you are bow hunting turkeys, you typically aim for the vitals on a turkey. That is the correct shot placement, however the turkey gets his feet under him, he will fly and you may lose him! Check out the new episode of the Raised Hunting Podcast we go discuss shooting turkeys with a shotgun vs a bow and the best shot placement on turkeys that leads to more birds getting recovered! What should I use? I’m drawn back 45 pounds because I’m not that old. What broadhead should I use? It may go through the turkey but if it stops, I’m pretty sure that turkey will be dead.

Shot a tom this year with my Mathew’s 31.5 VXR full strut next to my decoy at 15 yards. Bird went 50 yards and flopped over. To anyone taking this video as absolute truth, relax… just shoot em with your deer broadhead and celebrate. I have the whole thing on video for anyone who wants to try to tell me different.

Cut on contact with a 2.3 or bigger cutting diameter in the vitals . Scramble the lungs they ain’t going anywhere. They go 15-20 yards max and they just expire .

My daughter has killed a lot of birds with an expandable at 45lbs. Shot them high leg shots. Most don’t go 20 yds. Just work the bird in close. Don’t shoot farther than 20yds.
