FED can buy any of those bonds anytime. Inflation rate will go up. That's it.

When China dumps its US Treasury bonds, the repercussions are not limited to what China holds. They go far. Other China's trading partners worldwide, who are more than US trading partners will do the same because China will no longer have USD deposits to trade with them. This will precipitate the de-dollarization which will ultimately force the US export oriented companies to follow the suit so that they can keep on doing international business. Messing up with the world's manufacturing super power is the last thing any country in the world would want to do.

you are very inexperienced , china needs only dump 10 to 20 per cent to cause the bond yield to spike to 6% and above. This will cause the stock market to panic which happened in 1987 .

You have a point. However China doesn’t think the way you think. It is sure no ne will win but China may do it if their calculation shows US will suffer more.

I think China will win. For the dumping of the bonds, China could just wait for it to reach due date and not buy them back in.
