Just take a piece of painters tape throw it on the wall, take a level )which is way cheaper than this thing) use it to draw a horizontal line along the painters tape. Measure the distance between the middle of each hole in the back you’re hanging the object from. Measure that same distance along the line and mark it. Now just drill or screw a little bit into each mark, remove the tape, screw your screws in the rest of the way and hang the object. All done and you saved money and learned a valuable life skill.

They normally get off level and need recalibration. I use Hilti lasers often with my job. Bad ass products but I don’t know anything about this one
