This diner run by a Palestinian-Jordanian family for 36 years has amazing baklava pancakes! @luxorcafee in Harvard Square took our prize for “Best Hangout Spot”. Since opening last year, this Egyptian cafe serving up addictive lattes has gained a loyal following among both longtime Cambridge residents and Muslim students at Harvard. @yafabakerycafe in Somerville, run by a Palestinian who was an artist before entering the restaurant business, was a no-brainer for Best Bakery. Its sweet and savory offerings are as pleasing to the eye as to the palate. @Bab Alyemen Boston in Fenway made our list for Best Decorations, with a Yemeni-style seating area to complement its excellent takes on traditional homestyle Yemeni cooking. Bab Al-Yemen has been voted best Middle Eastern Restaurant in Boston two years in a row. @MoRockinfusion in @BostonPublicMarket is a Casablancan take on Chipotle bowls, serving up tender, spiced lamb on a base of either couscous or salad, and was our choice for Best Fast Casual. Honorable Mentions: The Lobster Stop in Quincy is a favorite of the Arab-American community for its Egyptian-style seafood. @NAYA 🧆 , a Lebanese fast casual restaurant that opened up three locations in the Boston area late last year, definitely could have won best fast casual with its consistently high-quality bowls and wraps, but in the end we went with the local Mo Rockin’.
