@melissaannmariee: I caught this moment where my teen son was questioning me about a phone limit I set on his phone recently— no apps, games, or texting past 10pm on weeknights. I didn’t realize it also included Friday evenings. I’m much more open and fine with him having screen time later on weekends. He uses the bark phone so there’s nothing risky going on— I just noticed that when I don’t have a time limit set or a hard boundary where the phone shuts off, he ant regulate his use and will end up on it late and be so tired the next morning. Sleep is so important and I don’t think he’s old enough to recognize & prioritize that. And that’s where I step in as a parent who knows better. I’m curious what your thoughts are and what your family does in your home with your teens & what their screen limits are for week days? #parentsofteens #teenmom #parentingadvice #singlemom #parenting
I'm 28 but can you put that setting on my phone too please

this should have been a conversation beforehand. it can feel like a loss of control and a loss of trust. the bark phone is a great idea and I'm all for limits but let them know the expectation before

God forbid a parent tries to parent and not be their child's friend

People will scream that social media is damaging for kids but then judge parents for trying to limit it. Can’t win 🤷♀️

limited screen time? sure, that's fine. not communicating about it beforehand? hell no. children are deserving of clear communication and an explanation about these type of changes and rules. that just sets a REAL bad example.

That’s fair. Don’t know his age but he sounds quite young. Also, what’s a bark phone?

I think this can be incredibly beneficial however I think it should have been a conversation beforehand.

"you should have a conversation with him first" i would almost guarantee this has been a continuous issue due to the "you know why" a phone is a PRIVILEGE

Y’all are acting like she’s locking him into a cage and trapping him there until sunrise. She’s limiting his screen time at 10PM (which is honestly a perfect time). Even adults need screen time limits

Girl I had way to much access when I was 12 and got my first iPhone , no parental attention and way before screen time limits . Protect him at all costs . I’m over here suffering with insomnia too.
