its not recommended to wake them from sleep. Having your face in front of theirs has many cases of bites. This scares them and they can react aggressively.

Never EVER wake a sleeping Rottweiler (or any dog) by leaning over their face. It might seem harmless, but it’s not. A startled dog may not recognize you instantly and can react instinctively
