When you pray, make sure you do not do these three things.

Especially the third one.
Be very careful
not to offend God.

First,
do not pray only when there is a problem.

Some people rarely pray
when everything is peaceful and going well.
When life is good,
they do not think much about God.
But when trouble comes,
when money is tight,
when there are problems in the family,
then they suddenly remember God.

But God is not your backup plan.
He is not Someone you only turn to
when you are in trouble.
He is your Father,
and He is your refuge.

Second,
after you pray, do not leave right away.

Be still for a moment.
Prayer is not only about speaking nonstop.
Prayer also includes being quiet before God,
letting His word enlighten you,
letting His peace guide you,
and letting you understand His will.

The Bible says: “Be still, and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10 KJV

If a person leaves immediately after praying,
and never takes time to quietly seek God’s will,
then maybe they are only speaking words to God,
but have not truly come before Him.

Third, do not turn prayer into a transaction with God.

Some people pray like this:
“Lord, if You help me this time,
then I will do this for You.”
This is not true faith.
This is putting conditions on God.
True prayer is not bargaining with God.
It is bringing your struggles,
your thoughts,
and your desires before God,
while still being willing to submit to His arrangement.

When the Lord Jesus prayed, He said: “nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.” Luke 22:42 KJV

Many people do not have a breakthrough in prayer,
not because God is not listening,
but because their hearts
are always trying to make God follow their own plans,
while they are not willing to seek God’s will.

The Bible says:
“Ye ask, and receive not,
because ye ask amiss.”
James 4:3 KJV
