I think I spent years asking myself the wrong question. Instead of asking, “What kind of job do I want?” I should have been asking, “What kind of LIFE do I want?” 🤍 Starting over in your late twenties is honestly terrifying. Especially when you’ve spent years working towards a future you suddenly realise you might not even want anymore. I spent four years at university, working towards a career I thought I wanted. But when I graduated, something just didn’t feel right. The job market was absolutely brutal. I faced rejection after rejection, struggled to find opportunities that genuinely excited me, and watched my friends land impressive jobs and internships while I felt completely stuck. I felt behind. Vulnerable. And honestly, a little like I’d failed. But eventually, I realised I was chasing the wrong things. The job titles. The career milestones. The next position that would look impressive on paper. I’d spent so much time thinking about what I wanted to DO that I’d barely considered how I wanted to LIVE. Did I actually want to spend my days in an office, attending meetings and climbing the corporate ladder? Or did I want the freedom to create something of my own, make my own decisions, and build a life around what I genuinely love? And don’t get me wrong! There’s absolutely nothing wrong with a traditional 9-to-5. I know so many people who love that lifestyle, and that’s wonderful. But I finally admitted to myself that it wasn’t what I wanted. So I decided to start over. And that’s how Crescent Chapters began. 🌙 I knew NOTHING about running a business. Marketing, product design, manufacturing, operating all these different machines… I had absolutely no experience. But I started learning. And I’m still learning every single day. Am I making mistakes? CONSTANTLY. 🥲 Am I working more hours than I would in a regular job? Absolutely. Is it financially risky and sometimes completely overwhelming? Without a doubt. But for the first time, I feel like I’m building a future that actually feels like mine. And no, I haven’t figured everything out. Not even close. But I’ve realised that changing direction doesn’t mean those years studying and working towards something else were wasted. They helped me figure out what I DON’T want, and sometimes that’s just as important. I think so many of us spend our twenties on autopilot, constantly chasing the next milestone because that’s what we’re supposed to do. Graduate. Get a job. Build a career. Keep moving forward. But how often do we actually stop and ask ourselves whether that’s the life we want? So if you’re in your twenties, feeling lost, watching everyone around you seemingly have everything figured out while you’re questioning your entire future… you’re not alone. 🤍 You’re allowed to change your mind. You’re allowed to take a different path. And you’re allowed to start over, even when it feels terrifying. Because maybe starting over isn’t falling behind. Maybe it’s finally choosing the life you actually want to live. 🥹 If you’re going through something similar, I’d genuinely love to hear your story in the comments. I think we need to talk more openly about how confusing this stage of life can be. #startingover #careerchange #SmallBusinessOwner #womeninbusiness #SmallBusiness
