@compass.acres: Recovering people pleaser here 👋🏼 Now let me start by saying, acts of service is a way I express my care and love for people BUT before I started healing I needed to please people in order to feel valued in life. I STRUGGLED knowing I was giving so much to people who really wouldn’t give me anything or very little back, and I literally gave myself zero of what I was putting out. Literally I would be like- “oh yes I would love to do that for you, can I also make your dinner, and let you run over me with your car?!” (Not really but you get it) So, I had to learn to pull back. First- I had to start giving myself some of those flowers and care, no more pulling from an empty bucket. Like NICOLE, you need to be nicer to yourself, you deserve it. Second- I had to reevaluate what I was willing to give out. I don’t necessarily play tit for tat because I think that can be pretty toxic as well, but I figured out hey, if this person has a pattern of not showing up for me, I’m going to take that into consideration before I give away my time, service, talents, etc. This doesn’t mean I don’t do kind things for people, and I still love to volunteer, BUT I set a boundary. I decided I was worth saving flowers for myself ❤️❤️ Are you a people pleaser?
