There has to be substantive reasons for one to recuse themselves especially when it comes to Judicial officers. We don’t have a jury system for a reason but we have to have safeguards

This is nonsense. A judicial officer for good cause may recuse himself. Nothing wrong with that. If she feels her decision maybe influenced in any way whatsoever then recusal is the right thing to do.
