Video games have SO MUCH MORE character development than most movies, especially the Last of Us in comparison to a lot of the other games in its genre (1/2).

i think we as gamers need to remember that we aren't the only people that are watching this show. there are so many people watching who never played the games. the show has to work for them too.

what's ironic here is TLOU is frequently critiqued as a game for being "too cinematic". yet still when you try to actually adapt it, elements provided by gameplay are completely lost.

Game to film adaption is difficult. It's why I prefer adaptations being their own thing with some references from the game. Arcane and recently DMC series came to mind.

I dunno, maybe I'm just too TLOU-pilled, but I love them each separately. the TV show gives you so much space for stories like Bill & Frank, Joel's therapy session, etc that could never work in a game

This exactly the correct take. People critical of Joel’s choice in Part 1 miss out on BEING him, and feeling like you have no choice in saving Ellie, as you had for the 20+ hours of the game

I agree with this very much, Last Of Us 2 had be drained mentally and emotionally that I had to take breaks from the story. It affected me in a way I don’t think the show will.
