Hey, I am currently on a scene where one of my main characters is supposed to write their future plans as the ruler. She does not know what to write for her preparation and she is spiraling. She took a brwak but yet again stressed herself out when she began writing again. Is the scene good if ut made me tense? She is supposed to cry at the end because the other main character is not there to pick her up, they had a fight. Now, I didn't really feel like wanting to cry with her but it is also the first draft and the 4 chapter of my book. I try for each chapter to have 10 pages

originally my fmc cried a lot, i then re-read my book and realised that when the tears mattered the most they didn’t stand out so i rewrote it and it definitely has a much bigger impact than before

I find tears to be flat. Like they don’t mean much. I am more emotionally invested when people shout, yell and generally argue, because they’re hurt rather than just falling to their knees with tears
