I don’t think you’re supposed to boil milk, just simmer it

milk likes to be heated to a point where you start to see small bubbles on the side of the pot and that should be enough :)

BEST OATMEAL YOULL EVER HAVE: pour oats into a pot, pour water over oats just enough to cover them, add in a little bit of milk, mix. place on med-high heat for about 3mins w/ lid on (don't let it boil), then start stiring slowly, KEY PART once it starts to boil, bring the heat from like 7 down to 4, add in condensed milk (makes it sweeter and thicker), I add 2-3 tablespoons but it depends per person. Continue stiring untill it's cooked. (Whole process takes 5-6 mins)

too hot, and you're not stirring it enough. I constantly stir mine to prevent the bottom from burning

diamondmine_2323 :
I use a 1:4 or 1:1 ratio of milk to water. It’s just as creamy but doesn’t form the scalded skin at the bottom of the pan

Milk sugars caramelized. Too much heat for too long.

RandomKitten :
Milk needs to be stirred constantly when cooking at higher temperatures, and should never be allowed to come to a full boil because it will bubble over.

the only time you should boil milk is to make cheese, and even then most cheeses you still don't boil

getting milk above 180° F denatures proteins in it, keep it below that temp and it won't scald
