Hate showing up to cafe to find 4 tables pushed together with a reserved sign, for a group of pensioners to come in and sip on 1 coffee for 2 hours.

I've worked at a few cafes over the years the amount of business they lost by letting people reserve tables and have 1 coffee each and share a cake for 90 minutes astounded me!

So tempted to move to walk in only! As takes so much labour to manage bookings and creates inefficient space. But I have so many people that then are concerned as we are a busy cafe that won’t get a table/ want to book as travelling from afar or larger groups / concerned about having everyone arrive right just on peak rather than spreading out throughout.

I agree. As a solo diner there's nothing worse than walking into a cafe and having to search around for a single bloody seat without reserved on it. First in, first served 👍
