You know what fucking fair play! As a parent of an autistic child I always talk to her even when she doesn’t reply. These are the kinds of people that could potentially be looking after our children

I'm a carer to non verbal adults. Just because they are non verbal doesn't mean they don't want the conversation. they can still hear and understand us

I work in a care home and some of our residents don't/didn't talk... I ALWAYS communicate what I'm doing, always hope that they've had a nice sleep (they can't answer me if I asked them if they have)

I’ve followed a carer back to a residential home before so I could report her. She treated her client with utter disrespect and even made him stand at the bus stop while she took the last seat.

Your 100 right but sometimes you do need to talk to each other as well and you don’t see everything they do for them ,but their is carers like this as well

Miriam Emily Dawson :
my suggestion is do not confront carers about this in front of a client. you could be triggering the individual. so instead maybe note the care company from uniforms and badges etc and contact them.

Just to put another perspective, my son is 5 and non verbal and their are times that I can speak with him and enjoys the interaction but there are also times when this overwhelms him

I had a carer and lady in a wheelchair get on the bus, carer parked the lady at the front and carer sat at the back of the bus on her phone speaking in her own language for 5 miles 🙄

call the company at the end of the day still a person and they are paying this company to care for them! I worked in care and couldn't imagine not just talking even if they couldn't respond! 👏
