God isn’t an absent Father who only shows up when things are good. He’s present in the pruning. Actively involved in shaping you—even when it stings. Think about it: A good parent doesn’t let their child run into the street. They correct. They train. They stop them—for their good. God does the same. His discipline isn’t out of anger, but out of love that refuses to let you settle for sin or stay stuck in spiritual immaturity. Hebrews 12:11 says, “No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness…” That “later on” is key. The fruit comes after the breaking. The clarity comes after the wrestle. The maturity comes after the refining. So how do you respond when it hurts? — Don’t run from God. Run to Him. Tell Him it hurts. He’s not afraid of your honesty. — Ask, “God, what are You teaching me in this?” not just “When will this end?” — Stay in the Word. Let truth reshape your thinking while God reshapes your life. — Trust His character more than your current feelings. He’s not distant—He’s disciplining with purpose. If you’re being stretched, challenged, or even broken—don’t mistake it for rejection. It’s proof that you’re His.
