As a child I lived about 5 miles from the Siletz Indian reservation. My parents never let us go outside at night. My mom said it was because of stories from the reservation one was of the Stick people

From what I know, Stick People blend in and out of realms using portals to enter and leave. This is the same for Big Foot, DogMan and GoatMan. Leaving the realm prob knocked her out, and unfindable.

Yes, some Natives up here in Washington also believe in stick people lore. They will mimic cries and sounds to draw you deeper into the woods. Very dense rainforest.
