Could also just solder a new plug to the cut wires, or take it apart, check how the wire is connected, either screwed in or soldered and just replace the whole thing.

Yes, in many cases, a cord can be fixed if the end is cut off. If the cut is close to the plug, you can replace the plug with a new one, If the cut is in the middle of the cord, you can sometimes splice the wires together, but this is generally not recommended for power cords.
