@phdandvee: #stitch with @phdandvee a little, long explanation of the study I spent three years on, only to find no significant results. Sorry it’s long, I didn’t know you can’t edit stitches! Hope this helps explain things :) #phdlife #phdexperience #phd #phdprogram #phdproblems #phdpsychology #phdpsyd #phdstudent #phdprogram #phdstruggles #phdstudentlife #phdstudentlifestyle #phdstudentproblems #phdpsychologist #phdlifebelike #statistics #results #experiment #explained #stitch #memory #recognition #cognitivefunctions #cognition #fyp #interestingfacts #foryoupage
It’s an older school train of thought that journals won’t publish null results, you have 3 experiments showing failure to replicate which is convincing. My whole dissertation is null over 4 experiment

Use Bayesian stats instead and you’ll be fine

Omg that was you!! I participated in your study last semester for the ispr and I found it super interesting. I can’t believe you didn’t find anything:(

This is making me feel better about my small-scale non-important SLR thesis 🤣

I’m an autistic comedy promoter, at least half the time I don’t recognise acts I book because I’ve only seen pictures! Not fully face blind, but not great with them either.

(1)have you considered an effect caused by generation or social media use? for example, we engage with static images on Instagram alot. perhaps there has been a shift in today's college students (assuming typical psych experiment samples) because of social media use making them better at remembering static faces.

Definitely publishable. It’s an extension of previous lit using familiar faces and shows that the theory does not uphold when done with unfamiliar faces. Include all experimental designs in one paper.

In my opinion this is a very important and significant result. You’ve shown that there is no difference, contradicting the working theory that there should be a difference.

I didn't agree with your premise and the data makes sense to me. Doesn't matter if it's moving out static, in biology we learn to see faces from birth, we're very good at it. Great video and publish!

Look at all of the journals you've referenced in your paper. That's generally the journal you'd want to publish to. Also join the FB group "Reviewer 2 must be stopped".

Mate, three different experiments showing the same results, some of those with big sample sizes, is absolutely publishable and you do not need to make it a “short report” just because it goes against what is previously thought!

That is actually publishable! The fact that your results show there is no difference when it was generally thought that there would be is important. Publish it in any journal you commonly referenced

This could be very important for how we identify perpetrators/ criminals with law enforcement/ forensic methods etc. so this is still valuable info even if ns

the framerate a video is recorded and played back might matter. can you play with the uncanny valley notion? what about same person different makeup?
