@martinamcbride: It’s almost time to plant the garden! I start seedlings from seed in my basement. If you do that there is something called “hardening off” that you need to know about before you just put the seedlings in the dirt of your garden. I explain it here but wanted to also add make sure you watch them closely at first. Check them every 10 minutes. Because when they are young the sun can burn them easily. This is the whole point of doing this…to get them used to the sun, the breeze and temperature fluctuation. Check their water when you bring them in from outside. They might need a drink. Also when the nighttime temp gets above 55-60 degrees it is important to leave them out overnight after being out during the day so they can get used to the fluctuation in temperature. Basically you are taking baby steps to get them used up outdoor conditions. Once they do well, tolerate a couple of full afternoons and nights outside, have strong stems and healthy growth, they are ready for planting. #fyp #martinamcbride #gardening #plants #spring #gardeningtips
This is a great idea, especially with the area I live in. We have winds from the lake front and cold weather is persistent up here in northern Minnesota not to mention getting used to sunlight. 🙌💕
