Comparing the Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor and the Sukhoi Su-57 (Felon) is a clash of two different philosophies: one built for "invisible" dominance and the other for aggressive, "super-maneuverable" dogfighting. ​🇺🇸 F-22 Raptor: The Stealth King ​The F-22 entered service in 2005 and remains the gold standard for Air Superiority. It was designed to see the enemy, shoot them down, and vanish before the opponent even knew there was a fight. ​Stealth (VCO): The F-22 has an incredibly low Radar Cross Section (RCS). It is often compared to the size of a marble or a bumblebee on enemy radar. ​Sensor Fusion: It uses the AN/APG-77 AESA radar, which allows it to track multiple targets at long ranges while remaining in "stealthy" electronic mode. ​Supercruise: It can fly at speeds above Mach 1.5 without using fuel-hungry afterburners, allowing it to stay in the fight longer and move faster across the battlefield. ​Thrust Vectoring: It uses 2D thrust vectoring (up and down), making it extremely agile in a close-range fight. ​🇷🇺 Su-57 Felon: The Acrobat ​The Su-57 is Russia’s first venture into 5th-generation technology. Beyond Visual Range (BVR) ​Winner: F-22 Raptor. ​Why: The F-22’s stealth is significantly superior to the Su-57. Experts estimate the Su-57’s RCS is closer to a clean F-18 than a true stealth jet. In a long-range battle, the F-22 would likely detect the Su-57 first and fire an AIM-120D missile before the Russian pilot even has a lock. ​2. Technology & Reliability ​Winner: F-22 Raptor. ​Why: The F-22 is a mature, battle-ready platform with over 180 units built. The Su-57 is still produced in very small numbers and has struggled with engine development and manufacturing quality. ​Final Verdict ​The F-22 Raptor is generally considered the "better" fighter because modern air warfare is decided by stealth and sensors, not backflips.
