The south is seen as having more hospitality a lot of the time. As a southerner that’s traveled north tho, I will say southern insults are more underhanded and the niceness is fake at times.

From personal experience, the south is more generous and caring but is visibly more judgmental. The north is not as nice and more to themselves

south people are very ‘kind’ to your face and will talk about you behind your back. North people won’t say hi in person but will buy you gas because you ran out on the side of the road.

North is loud and blunt, rude. South is soft spoken but cliques, gossipy. I've lived in both and will only stay in the south. I love earm weather,my privacy and country life.

It’s similar to that here! Southerners are typically more hospitable (that’s why we have the term “southern hospitality”) and northerners tend to be a bit more cold. I’m sort of in the middle I think (it’s Kentucky, people can correct me if they think it’s more southern or northern or whatever) so it just depends if you’re from the cities or from a rural area. All the folks who live out near Oldham and Lagrange have always been really nice and welcoming. I don’t have as many experiences with northerners, but they seem less outgoing to me whenever I do meet them. Nothing against them, it’s just a different culture. It’s interesting to see that this isn’t just a US thing!

It’s kinda funny bc the areas of America are shaped by the people who immigrated there. The north has a lot of German immigrants. They’re more direct and less talkative but not necessarily mean.

Southerners have had to be friendly since taking the big L back in the 1860s. Northerners don’t need to be nice or friendly, but we sometimes choose to be.

Southern hospitality is a true and genuine thing as a southerner myself. But we are also blunt and will not sugar coat sht. We are like sweet tea and sand paper combined if that makes sense.

I would say more its more big city vs small town. Most town people are friendly/helpful where as people in the city only care for themselves and their image. there are more huge cities in the north
