What about descriptions? Like “she has black hair”, “she’s got black hair”. I’ve seen the second option so often that I don’t know which one to use

What You Say in English! :
Huddleston and Pullun (2002) argue that in the context of possession, ‘have got’ is semantically equivalent to ‘have’ and is not analyzable as the perfect of ‘get.’” The only differences between the two seem to be register and dialect (AmE and BrE).

I thought *I have got* is BRE, *I have* is AME with the same meaning.

I think got focuses on the getting something so it's not given that you own it rather that you had to do something to be in possession m

at school we used to say I have got two brothers for example. As you said we can use just have instead of have got. My question is which one is more natural more British and which one is more formal and suitable for students?
