3 1/2 years ago I moved to Bellingham knowing barely anyone up here. I got a DM from a bar welcoming me to town interested in doing a promotion. I drove to their office and met Sara outside of her office on Holly and Cornwall. I instantly thought she was beautiful but didn’t want to assume she was single or even interested in me at the time. She showed me around her office and I ended up grabbing a drink with her and her best friend/coworker. Sara didn’t talk much but she had the most calming presence about her. Later that night, I met up with them at the bar whe they were working. They were taking photos and getting content for the bar’s social media while I racked up a $93 tab on Sara’s company card ($2 doubles btw). Needless to say, I didn’t remember much from that night. After she got off work, we met up for a drink at State St. Bar. I stumbled in and saw her sitting at the booth. Since we didn’t get to talk much before, I thought this was my chance to get to know her. We talked for hours. We talked about growing up in a mixed household and how that shapes our identities, I (apparently) talked about my honey collection for an hour. As the bar was closing, I pulled her best friend aside and asked if Sara was single. She told me she was, and I asked her friends permission to take her on a date. I didn’t have a job at the time and was living off the little money I made from TikTok. So on a tight budget I cooked Sara dinner and took her on a drive for our first date. I made a playlist called “Sara Drive”, and to this day I’m so thankful I have a soundtrack to the day I fell in love. I dropped her off at her friends house, hugged her goodbye, and went home. I immediately called my mom and said, “I just went on a date with the girl I’m going to marry.” She’s my everything. The reason I get out of bed in the morning. The reason I work hard. The reason I’m able to come on here and share laughter and joy with this community. Never settle. I hope one day everyone seeing this can find their Sara❤️ @Sara - @hunterkaimi
