I’ve done it from Chicago to Emeryville. It was so worth taking the slow route to California. I packed wine and snacks and it was so relaxing.

I fell in love with this country's views on 1998 on that train. So beautiful. I got to see so much of the country on the way to Arkansas and then back to CA but now it is too expensive.

They provide food included breakfast lunch and dinner but yes always nice to pack food. There salmon is good they serve.
