@compass.acres: Here’s how I do it 👇🏼 When I first started pruning my limelight’s I was so scared to hurt them so I would hardly take anything off. Then after a couple years I learned to prune anything that crossed, was dead, and I wasn’t afraid to take some inches off. NOW I go in with my hedge trimmers to start and shape them. Then I go in with some pruners and clean up anything I need to. Limelight’s are great for beginners because they are so forgiving, but let’s be honest, veteran gardeners love these in their gardens as well! Here are 5 tips when pruning your limelight’s 👇🏼 1. Prune in late winter or early spring – Before new growth starts! 2. Cut back by 1/3 to 1/2 – Don’t be shy; they bloom on new wood! 3. Remove dead or crossing branches – Clean cuts = healthy growth. 4. Shape the plant – Keep it open and balanced for airflow & sunlight. 5. Use sharp, clean tools – Prevent disease and get smooth cuts. Follow these tips and your Limelights will thank you with stunning flowers! #HydrangeaTips #LimelightHydrangea #PruningTips #GardenReel #SpringGarden #compassacres #gardencoach #flowersmakemehappy #gardendesign #gardening
