Raised Catholic, don’t really follow it, but went to a Jesuit college. God I love the jesuits because they teach a wide range of education, are compassionate, and have empathy 1/2

Nuns and priests also often took a new name after saints. It’s why so many old school catholic nuns had male names.

Fairly sure most/all popes before 1555 also took regnal names. After all, Rodrigo de Borja became Alexander VI in 1492, for example.
