@conor_harris_: THE HARD TRUTH ABOUT “TIGHT MUSCLES” The overwhelming majority of the internet has led us to believe that tight muscles = short, “overactive” muscles. Well, that’s not the full picture. Every muscle should have a degree of “slack” to it at rest That allows for it to relatively lengthen, or shorten, as needed depending on the task. But if you take those attachment sites of the muscle and pull them apart chronically, of course that’s going to create tension. Only stretching tight muscles that are stuck in a chronically elongated position will not help - it will make it worse. Instead, try repositioning the bones and joints around them to create a better ability for the muscle to have that resting slack. Credit to @anatomy.of.motion for the video model!
