As a new grad, I can apply all of my textbook knowledge, get complimented on my critical thinking from my preceptors, but have 0 confidence and I mean 0. Wish I could be more like this new grad👆🏻

I appreciate that you like the know it grads, but those are the ones who are going to hurt someone because they don’t realize they are wrong.

The hospital needs to allow and pay for a nice/ good amount of time orientation. Some of us are thrown in and told to sink or swim and it’s at the patients cost

I had an externship/preceptorship during nursing school. Got to spend a lot of time in the trauma bay as a result, learned how very different codes are in trauma versus a high acuity zone.

2 years in and now charging in ED and every huddle I start with, “yall I don’t know shit BUT WE WILL FIGURE IT OUT TOGETHER.” Imposter syndrome goes crazyyyyyy but we figure it out🕺

I’m not graduated yet BUT I have now 11 years of experience as a tech and 6 years as a medical assistant in clinics so I do have assessment and clinical thinking skills but always say I’m building on-

Genuine question, shouldn’t you be giving blood and epi in that scenario?

I love this perspective! I trained a new grad know it all on a tele floor. He was arguing with the 30+ year experience RN and totally stood by what he had to say! So true!

I pushed Meds during a code as a new grad and then walked away thinking “well that was different”!

I work in Risk. The scariest nurses are the overconfident new grads who think their BSN means more than an older ADN.

I just know I’m gonna be the know it all because I’ve been in healthcare for over 20 years. I’m not intimidated and I’m on the spectrum. I won’t be able to shut up.😭😭 But I’ll try!!!😂💗

I’m not a nurse and I don’t work in the medicinal field, but I live for all the nursing tea and skits.

I’ve been a nurse for 20 years, going for my doctorate and I still wouldn’t talk back to a doctor like that. If I feel something needs to be questioned or is unsafe, I ask, but don’t keep pushing. That is crazy! 😳

Now just realising I was a know-it-all new grad because I was telling doctors how it was going down most days without thinking and in some instances, after telling me to f*ck up a couple times, they came back and thanked me for being so observant one time and actually finding the concussion every nurse, including all the senior nurses, missed. Now I’m more careful but as a new grad, I hit the floor running 😭😂
