@samanthaproudmama: Replying to @Celia So much judgement out there on potty training… Not sure if Celia is aware, but children don’t start school at 3 🤣 Lazy parenting?? No! It’s knowing your child best, and doing it at the right time for them #pottytraining #potty #parenting #controversial #controversialparenting #mum #motherhood
It's becoming quite a problem now though with kids starting school still in nappies and expecting teachers to change them. It's been all over the news. It's obviously becoming an issue

Unless there’s a developmental delay or a medical reason there really is no excuse

unless there's a health or disability then 3 is too old 18mth to 2 is the best time x

I’m sorry but I agree with the comments. They should be potty trained by the time they start pre-school which depending on DOB is around 3.

I'm sorry unless there is something wrong with the child then no child should be going to school in nappies. Teachers don't go to uni to train to change nappies.

My little boy was 3 in February, have tried potty training twice but he's just not ready. I don't care what other people think either - we know our children best!

My daughter will be 3 in June, I’ve tried potty training every month since she turned 2 and she isn’t ready, refuses to sit on the potty and is terrified of the toilet. All kids are different!

just curious...what were your reasons for waiting? I'm an ex nursery practitioner, childminder and mum...I've only seen one child "not ready" and supported him differently. no judgement ❤️

Most children under 3 struggle and go backwards. If the child is showing signs they are ready then great but if not it doesn’t matter

What I’ve learnt is every child is so different my boy is 3 actually turning 4 in July and only just got him to start going on toilet. Why do people need to judge it’s so annoying 🥱 don’t stress it

At the end of the day why should teachers/nursery teachers change your child at 3-5 years old if they’re capable of going to the toilet, train them! My son is non verbal but was out of nappies by 3

You start nursery school in Scotland at 3. Our local nurseries ask that your child be potty trained for starting

Tried potty training at 1.5yo, 2yo, 2.5yo & 3yo. He just couldn't get the hang of it/was not ready. Screamed & cried. Tried again a few weeks ago at 3.5yo: he's fully clean & dry all night & day.

Here in Wales children often start school at 3. My daughter started 1 month after her 3rd birthday. Not allowed to start if in nappies. But many children aren’t ready by 3

In the 1980s was normal to potty train at about 18 months. I think the theory was to do it before they start enforcing their independence. I had no issues with 3 boys. But no cctv in gardens then

we tried at 2 and ended up with severe chronic constipation for 1.5 years, taking extremely high doses of laxatives.
tried again at 3.5 and he took to it straight away and it fixed his constipation.
