Dad of two loveable monsters :
I’ve driven manuals and automatics. I then made an informed decision that manuals gave me more control and performed better. So I went back to manuals.

I don't agree Rory. My issue with EVs. 1. Range is indeterminate being temperature dependent, 2. Recharge time excessive; 3. Expensive 4. Environmental arguments don't stand up. Fix these and I'm in.

I agree with the point presented, yet, I disagree with the argument in relation to electric car. I drove EV in 2020 4 environmental reasons and went 🔙 to petrol 3 y later for the same reason !!

sorry. manual v automatic... you need to add in how aging also influences driving choices too... and manufacturers offering more automatic In lower grade models... and reducing the additional charge for automatic transmission

He’s right about automatics. Not sure about air fryers and electric cars though.

Automatics have improved in the last thirty years. EVs haven't. They have the same fundamental problem they had thirty years ago

Well, he is correct however it’s also worth noting that not all innovations end up being good. Some of them were plain out bad and failed. Therefore until it actually succeeds you don’t really know

Did a ton of research. The charging time / range and depreciation all indicated buying non electric was better. Plus the environmental damage caused by the components doesn’t add up!

I have one is the best manual shifts in the world (s2000) and one is the best autos (8sp zf in X5 M50d). Love both. Key difference is I wasn’t FORCED to buy either. It was my choice.

Wrong analogy: early autobox cars were unresponsive 3-speeders that were much slower, used much more fuel and fragile / costly to maintain.
