@pog_actual_: Saluting a Medal of Honor Recipient…are you saluting the medal or the individual? #fyp #viral #viralvideo #fypシ #fypシ゚viral #usmc #marines #army #navy #coastguard #spaceforce #military #medalofhonor
I met Cpl Kyle Carpenter at the garhering of the eagles. I saluted him not the medal around his neck.

Is it true, regardless of the rank a person with a MOH is to be saluted by all ranks?

Both. You may be saluting the medal because you don’t know the details. But if you know the details then you’re saluting the individual

rank is different than the MOH. ranks are earned. MOH is completely above earned. it's sooo much more.

You are saluting the individual for acts of heroism in an extraordinary situation.

I agree with saluting the individual, but, if you knew that person is a MOH recipient, would you salute him while he was in cammies ?

Both. That said, I love the way Cpl Capenter wears his much better than how Sgt Meyers does... looks so much more uniform.

I say both. For what the individual did, but also the medal for the meaning and the history it holds

Hmm, I'd say that you'd be saluting the ACT that the service person did to be awarded the Medal......

I agree you salute the soldier, (not sure what the rule makers would say) in the UK the recipient gets roughly £10k per year do you guys get a similar annual payment ?

I always thought that saluting the man not the medal was standard affairs and didn't need an explanation. Especially a Medal of Honor recipient knowing what he went through to earn such an honor.

You’re saluting both. If you’re saluting the medal you’re saluting the person that earned that medal.

"...the recognition of the President..."
Isn't the Medal of Honour awarded after a determination by Congress,and just presented by the President ?

The MOH is for Valor...We salute the Military recipient. even officers salute the recipient even if they are enlisted.
