Rating Colorado ski resorts based on how beginner/intermediate friendly they are! (Part 2) ❄️ V A I L ❄️ My rating: 3/10 I know I’m gonna get so much hate for this rating 🙈 Listen, I’ve skied at Vail more than a dozen times. I actually learned to ski there and I know it like the back of my hand. But I will shout it from the rooftops: Vail is NOT very beginner-friendly. 👍 Pros: - Wide open easy greens all the way to the left side of the mountain (the only area in the whole resort that usually isn’t crowded) - Good “bunny slope” area - Very beautiful 👎 Cons - VERY crowded - Lots of green runs are very steep - Some areas are pretty confusing - The beginner green catwalks cut across blues and blacks, which can be really dangerous to cross because people are usually flying down those runs - It can be easy to accidentally go down the wrong way My favorite runs: 💚 Timberline Catwalk 💚 Flapjack 💚 Tinpants 💚 Boomer 💚 Sourdough 💚 Eagles Nest Ridge Steep greens that could be overwhelming for beginners: - Swingsville - The Meadows - Lost Boy Overall, fantastic resort for more advanced skiers. If you area beginner who is only going for a day, you can hang out in the bunny slope area. But if you’re planning on skiing longer, you’ll probably get bored of that small area and want to venture out. But like I said, a lot of the greens are very steep and crowded. ⛷️ My advice for some really nice easy greens? 1️⃣ Take Gondola One 2️⃣ Walk over to Mountaintop Express Lift (4) 3️⃣ Ski Timberline Catwalk to Sourdough Express Lift (14) 4️⃣ Enjoy all the greens there (Sourdough, Boomer, Tinpants, and Flapjack) 5️⃣ You can keep taking Sourdough Express Lift (14) over and over to keep practicing. 6️⃣ Once you’re ready to head out, take Flapjack past the Sourdough Express Lift (14) until you get to Northface Catwalk, Skid Road, Riva Catwalk, and Gitalong Road. #vail #coloradolife #skiresort #skicolorado #skiseason
