lived in El Salvador from 1980 to 1984. I was a child who lived through that war. I know it got worse later. But I remember having a gun to my head as a 9 yr old child while guerrila or military men

there’s a museum in san salvador that displays actual images, artworks, relics, etc from the civil war era and i want to visit but i can’t subject my parents to live through their trauma like that :(

Nicaraguan here. I married a Salvadoran guy in the 90’s. By the 2000’s I was in therapy for being subjected to domestic violence. My therapist mentioned that both of our country had gone through war

I’m from soyapango. Left there after the civil war in 1993. No one will understand if you didn’t leave through it. Hiding, bullets, if you go out you needed to have a white sheet or towel.

Both parents are from El Salvador. My father was a guerrillero and lost his older brother. My mom has spoken to us about it the most, my dad has started to speak about it now. 💔
