I’m a vice president and since college I have told myself every day that if I don’t get XYZ done, I will end up homeless. This is 100% the ADHD experience.

I am a tax attorney/accoutant. Once I treated my anxiety, that is when I realized I had ADHD. I was horrifically correct that my anxiety was what kept me successful.

“How are you so efficient? How do you get everything done so quickly?” Because if I don’t I will forget it and now I am so OVERWHELMED bc it all must be done NOW!

100%- I just tell myself if I don’t do the things I’ll get fired, my husband will leave me, my friends will leave me, etc. and then the things get done. 🙃

I thrive under panic. Very few moments I let others take a peek under the hood. Close to zero with people at work. Never let anyone weaponize your ADHD against you!!

Every reminder notification makes my cortisol skyrocket and the deadlines I give myself are completely made up and always way earlier than actually necessary. Why is this how I function 🥲

Oh my God, yes… the long term to do list is a page of paper. What *has* to get done today is on a post it. There’s a separate financial to do list. All lists have to be in sight somewhere in the house so I don’t forget about them. Alarms set for everything

Not diagnosed but … my calendar app, notes , writing on the mirrors, dry erase board in my closet and planners agree with you. I’ve always been an over achiever, yet suffered in silence from anxiety. The pressure I put on myself That says if I don’t get it done , I’ll lose everything.

Kaitlyn :
My therapist told me that the reason I appear more high functioning in my adhd is because of my specific flavour of anxiety. But that doesn’t mean I struggle less than someone with adhd who doesn’t appear high functioning.
