no kidney is not useless cause it filters blood and trash out waste but when your left with one kidney it will be forced to work more and it can cause kidney failure

Appendix is Supposed to hold bacteria. Your entire gut holds bacteria, they are necessary to digest food. Its needed to replenish the gut-bacteria in case of emergency.
