I’ve been following your content and truly find them rather useful. I hope you can take my comment objectively. 1. I’m a FA, and I don’t earn trailer fees from every ILP. 2. I advocate the same - separate insurance from investment. Many ILPs now only cover for death, and not illness, keeping mortality charges low. 3. Can’t say for other companies, but mine pays me more for selling term insurance, not ILPs.

It's true, the fact these FAs advocate savings and yet they splurge on depreciating assets. hmmm

What you ask ppl to invest is very well the same, your invested amt is higher, loss has no cap, if investors lose money, will you cover their loss?

You have the understand that the insurance company is design to ensure they don’t pay out and if they do it’s a tiny percentage.. and mathematicians make models to make sure of that.

It’s true, coming from an ex-fa. For 5 years as FA, I’ve never sold any ILPs as Idw my clients to buy sth that I don’t believe myself. Anyway, probably the reason I’m not cut out to stay as an FA lol

I was an insurance agent and I agree. Term and shield and learn how to invest(NOT DAY TRADE). ILPs often have high front or back loading, where the allocation of funds to your product is minuscule and most of it goes to costs(agent fees, cost of insurance and what not). Not even traditional products are good since they are costly for the little protection that they offer.

What should you do if you are already a few years (3-5y) into your ILP? It is wise to cut the loss and move on or continue?

ILP is not bad, it primarily focuses on investing meaning the policy owner bears the losses/winnings if it happens.

I guess different tools are used for different situations. Some product lines are refined and redefined in all industries, & things may not be the same. ETF ain’t a one size fits all solution too.
