@thedeskofb: There are 2 different sands in the chicken coop: In their house, I used Chicks Dig It! From Premium Chicken Sand because it had low dust & didn’t compact down. I love how easy it is to sift out when scooping out the chicken poop, but it is more expensive. Their run has washed construction sand that we got from our local stone yard & I love that we were able to get a lot for a great price. The cons are that it definitely compacts down, especially after rain & I’m always pulling rocks when cleaning it out.
