Shrimps tails should only be left on finger-shrimp, any pasta'd or otherwise sauce'd shrimp should be tailless.

Leaving the tails on, especially in a prepared dish like pasta, is absolutely terrible. I don't get it. If it's just shrimp with a dipping sauce it makes a little sense at least
