@sophiemorrisofficial: “One of your five a day… when you add 80g of fruit.” Come on now 🙄 This kind of labelling drives me mad. This cereal is not one of your five a day despite the health claim written on the pack, it’s only if you add an entirely different food to it 🤦‍♀️ And it’s not just this brand—Coco Pops are marketed as “supporting family health” and Frosties are flaunting their vitamin D content to give the perception that it’s a healthy choice. Let’s be clear—these cereals are fortified because they contain very little nutrition to begin with. And while it’s totally fine to have these fun cereals every now and again for the kids, these companies should not be allowed to portray them as health foods on the packaging. The marketing is misleading, and it’s aimed straight at tired, busy parents trying to make the best choices for their families. Also, if you are buying Coco Pops, don’t get stung by the €6.89 price tag by Kellogg’s. The SuperValu own brand is a third of the price and practically identical in sugar content and ingredients. My aim is that with enough pressure these companies will be forced to stop trying to pull the wool over our eyes and change their labelling. We deserve better transparency than this.
