@3bonym4y: this is a bit of sappy post but it’s almost been a year since I graduated and became a beauty therapist. I initially started this course for 2 reasons, my love for beauty and after being kicked out of home, followed by my step mother and aunty telling me I’d be nothing. I moved and left everything behind, my family, my friends, my job, my hometown. But as the months went on, I realised I was doing it for me and not to prove anything to anyone else. To prove to myself that after every bad thing that’s happened in my life, I’m stronger than that and can do anything I put my mind to. The year I started, I had no relationship with my dad, couldn’t speak to my siblings, was going through a breakup after 3 years of being cheated on, was kicked out of home and it felt like I was nothing and had no purpose. The French not only taught me how to be the best beauty therapist. They taught me how to be feminine again after having to be masculine for so long, protecting myself and my siblings. It taught me friendship. It taught me that it’s okay to not have everything together all the time. It taught me trust, it taught me self love. And that I’m more than my past. I am so grateful for the memories, the laughs, the people, the experiences, the friendships.
