I’ve noticed my PT will hold a point rather than massage (most with TFL, neck or hip flexor). Is there a good indicator for when to go for the hold on pressure?

I have hip tendinitis and found that this helps alleviate inflammation pain as well as single leg rdls. Chat gpt says it might be bc of increased blood flow to the hip?
